Georg Henrik Wrede has experience of local, national and international policy making. From the European Union and the Nordic co-operation between governments, to national policy making and local advocacy. He has been working with national and local policies about children, youth and families in a frail position. Homelessness, substance abuse and mental disorders being common problems.
He has been interested in questions of democracy, community and advocacy , holding a master of political science. His Master’s thesis: “The subject population in definitions of democracy” dealt with how “the people” had been defined in political theory. In many cases either omitting the question and focusing on the division of power and dealing with the question on who should rule. This was partly inspired by Karl Popper who formulated a new question, as distinct from the old “Who should rule?”, as “How is the state to be constituted so that bad rulers can be got rid of without bloodshed, without violence?” . Popper called the type of government which can be removed without violence “democracy”, and the others “tyranny”.
In the physical world Georg Henrik Wrede says he feels at home in USA, Estonia and Finland. Online you can find him on X and LinkedIn.
